Let me begin by saying I'm ok with texting. It is handy at times when a quick question is needed to be asked, or when you are in a situation where you can't talk on the phone. Heck, I'm ok with it most anytime. Sometimes talking on the phone is better, but texting isn't bad.
But there is one thing that is part of the texting world that bugs me, and that is the one word text. It just isn't needed. Let me give you an example of a texting conversation so you can see what I'm talking about:
- Me: Do you want to play basketball tonight?
- Fake MJ: Sure man, what time and where?
- Me: 7:00 at the Aztec
- Fake MJ: Ok
First, why even send the last text? I'll just assume that it is ok unless you tell me it isn't. Second, that still doesn't really tell me much. A better response would be "Ok, I'll see you there." It looks better, plus it gives me some more information. I say spend the extra time to type out something that gives more information, or don't send anything at all if it isn't needed.
That is all, for now.
