As you may recall, back in January I made a list of my favorite people. Well, I decided it was time to do it again. I'll call this my semi-annual top people list. As I have already done a list of currently alive people (assuming you can call some of those people alive), I'll step back in time and do a top dead people list. I present to you my top dead people. (Honorable mention list, once again in no certain order: Theodor Seuss Geisel, Tupac Shakur, Prince Hector, Colonel Sanders, Manute Bol, Billy Mays, Damon Macready, William Wallace, Bob Marley, Boromir, Robert Neville, & Steve Irwin)
5 - King Leonidas
This is the man famous for leading his 300 Spartans into battle to fight Xerxes, and his Persian army. Whether that movie was true or not, it was still pretty sweet. And for taking on an entire army with just 300 soldiers, and holding them off for quite a while, he makes my list of top dead people.
4 - Tsutomu Yamaguchi
If you don't know who this is, and chances are you don't, then click on the link above to read up on him. He had an amazing life! Anybody that can survive not only one, but two atomic bombs, is pretty freakin' awesome.
3 - Maximus Decimus Meridius
Once again, quite the life he led. He went from basically being the ruler of Rome one day, to having his family killed and being a slave the next day. And for continuing to battle and not give up, and for giving us many a great fighting scene, I think he deserves a spot on this list.
2 - Merlin Olsen
I had to throw a fellow Aggie on here somewhere, and Merlin Olsen ranks up there as arguably the top Aggie of all-time. Not only did he have a great college career, but he also went on to have a stellar NFL career, eventually ending up in the NFL Hall of Fame. He also become part of what was called the "Fearsome Foursome," one of the best defensive lines ever. A great man that Utah State now honors as they play each home football game on Merlin Olsen Field. Even Ron Burgundy admired this great man.
1 - Bob Ross
Most everybody knows who Bob Ross is, and the happy little trees that he would always paint. He always made it look so easy as he painted a masterpiece in his 30-minute time slot on PBS. And he always came off as a genuine, happy, nice guy. I like that. So in honor of Bob Ross, and that wonderful head of hair, I name him my top dead person of all-time! Congrats Bob!
